Holiday Day to Night…

Happy Tuesday, everyone!! Is it just me, or is there SO much do to this time of year with SO little time?! Between getting my Christmas decorations up to shopping for gifts for family and friends, to preparing for holiday parties and everything in-between, I just wish I had more time to do it all!!! So today I’m teaming up with Target to bring you two holiday looks, one day look and one night look, that can be worn all winter long while you’re busy crossing off your to-do list!

A couple weekends ago Drew and I packed up the kids for a day in Salt Lake City! One of our favorite things to do, no matter the season, is head downtown and for lunch or shopping or just to walk around as a family. I wanted to dress cute but casual while still being warm. So I layered up with this oversized cardigan and festive checked scarf from Target! And this outfit pairs perfectly with a cute, chunky ankle bootie. If you’re headed out for a day of Christmas shopping or running errands, this day look is the way to go. And for all you Utah locals, this look would also be perfect for a night out at Temple Square or Trolley Square to see all the lights! I can’t wait to take Isla and Jackson this year; I know Isla will go crazy over all the lights!

For a fancier night out, perhaps a holiday party or family party, dress up in a festive dress like this sleek black one and switch your booties for these feminine, cage heels! One of my very favorite things about the holidays is dressing up for parties. Just ask Drew, I think the holidays are an excuse to add glitter and shimmer to your wardrobe and to mix and match textures, which is why I love this velvet dress from Target! And don’t forget a bold, bright lip to finish off your look!

Even though there’s a lot to do, it really is the most wonderful time of year! I’d love to hear what some of your favorite things to do in your hometown or city for the holidays!

  1. Hi Rach! I saw your speech at UVU and wanted to say I think it was super inspiring. Good for you for following your passion and making a successful career out of what you love. All the best!

  2. I’ll be totally honest with you…the first pic is one of my favorite all-time looks from you. It is classy, chic, practical, and looks so comfortable. I love Target, and would love to see more inspired outfits from there…Thanks!

  3. Both outfits are so cute, Rach! What I really love about the first one is the scarf, it’s so festive and adds a nice pop of contrast to the whole look. For the second, everything is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for the holidays; you can’t go wrong with velvet this time of year! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have the most amazing day ahead!

  4. So perfect to get everything done or for my 21y/o to throw on to go to class. The dress is GREAT! My hubby is retired Navy so I have a TON of velvet dresses that I pair with a sparkling cocktail top. We live in costal Connecticut, we have a ton of boat parades, street parades and of course Mystic Village puts on lighted tours of the old whaling town. It’s New England so we layer upon layer!
Love that both outfits are from Target. With two in college and one in high school, those Valentino shoes are just going to have to wait.

  5. Omg, I cannot believe both outfits are from Target. I mea, I have always loved Target but both these outfits are so pretty!

I am a huge fan of driving all around town to look at Christmas lights. We did it as a family growing up and now my hubby and I do it each year. This is my favorite time of the year :)

  6. Rachel,

I would have never guessed those outfits were from Target. You look amazing in both outfits! You are seriously so talented at putting pieces together. Xo

  7. Such cute looks. I love the caged heels!

Our small town always puts lit snowflakes up every year. While it’s out of our way to drive home through the center of town, my husband and I always take a few evenings to drive through and enjoy the lights and to take a walk through with a latte in hand. Even though I don’t like the cold – the lights make up for it!
