REMINISCING ON OUR TULIP FESTIVAL ROAD TRIP…

I was going through some old photos the other day and came across photos from back in 2016 when Drew, Dash, Isla Rose and I took a spontaneous road trip to see the Tulip Festival in Skagit County, near Bellingham in Washington. It was so, so beautiful. What a memorable trip. I wanted to do a throwback because I just love these photos and looking back, it reminds me of so many sweet memories we made on this trip.

I was newly pregnant with Jackson and Isla Rose almost 12 months old! We were a little worried about driving so far with a toddler, but she was a dream! She did so amazing in the car the entire way! Drew and I love road trips because we have the time to just sit and talk. We literally talked about life and our goals the whole car ride. 11 hours!!! This trip took place a few weeks after I launched the Rachel Parcell collection. It was the very, very first collection for the brand and I had such big hopes and dreams for it.

The tulip festival is very close to Seattle, Washington. On the drive to Bellingham you can look across the water and see the Seattle sky line in the distance. Drew and I both looked across the water and then back at each other. We were thinking the same thing. He said, you watch one day you will be back here in Seattle pitching your collection to Nordstrom.

As I let that sink in I got a little teary eyed. I always dreamed that would happen, but that was the first time I talked about it out loud. I told Drew, I pray that one day that happens. I have no idea the road to get there, but I’m going to give it my all and try.

That trip, we put that dream/goal out into the universe and I’m so grateful my journey lead me there. There were plenty of stumbling blocks, learning curves, emotional lows and second guessing myself along the way, but I’m just so overwhelmed with gratitude that this dream is now a reality.

We are going back the end of this month to the tulip festival and after, I’m off to Nordstrom HQ in Seattle for meetings for upcoming collections!!!

I want to share this with all of you as a reminder that if you have a specific goal, it can be fulfilled if you put the time, work, and energy into it. I have to share a quote that my friend, Jamie O’Banion shared on her instagram the other day… “The secret to getting ahead is getting started!” And that was exactly what I did! Just get started and see where the journey takes you! Don’t be afraid to fail. Get back up and keep going.
