Homemade Sugar Cookie Recipe…

Sweater: Club Monaco

Happy Friday, everyone!! A couple weeks ago my sister Emily and I got together to bake our favorite sugar cookies (and let’s be honest, we bake these cookies ALL the time! If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen me post about them before). I’ve tried SO many different recipes but none of them come close to this one. This is my family’s all-time favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe!!!!! We plan to bake them next week for Halloween so if you’re needing some yummy treats for the weekend, try this recipe and let me know what you think!!

Sugar Cookie Recipe:

2 cups butter

6 eggs

2 cups sugar

2 teaspoon vanilla

2 teaspoon almond extract

6 teaspoon baking powder

7 cups flour

Mix wet ingredients with sugar then slowly add baking powder and flour. Mix well (I love to use this Bosch mixer). Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes. Bake for 7 minutes at 375.  (In my oven I only cook them for 6 minutes. I like them to be extra soft!!).

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:

1 pound cream cheese

3/4 pound unsalted butter at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1 1/2 pounds powdered sugar

Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great weekend!

  1. Hi Rachel!
I’m over from Grace + Beauty. How tall is the model fir your clothing linE? I’m 5’8 and find it hard to buy a dress just brlow my knees. I find this length to be elegant and stylish aka Kate Middleton.

      1. Do you have to store the frOsted cookies in the refrigerator? becaUse you are using cream cheese, which has to be refrigerated. Thanks

  6. I’m confused. Do YOU actually buy the pre-made cream CHEESE icing in the baking aisle and add stuff to it, or is that a typo ANd it’s just a pound of cream cheese? Thanks. :)

Also, what does your blogging schedule look like. I’m really interested in knowing how you organizeyourself with photo shoots and posting. Like, do you have a week’s worth of posts ready in advance? Di you do your outfit photo shoots on the weekend and then just post them? Okay, I’m so sorry.I could keep on asking too many questions :)

  9. We love making sugar cookies! Especially during the holidays. I tried a new vegan sugar cookie recipe last year and they turned out so good that I just had to share them on my blog. I love cutting them into snowflakes, wrapping them, and giving them as little gifts during the holidays.

  10. Hi! Would you mind telling us what ingredients you use? meaning, What flour, sugar and powdered sugar labels you use? also, what do you mean by “vanilla” – Vanilla extract? actual Vanilla Bean seeds? Not sure what you mean by “vanilla” as a whole…. thank you!

  11. THese are delicious! Ive been looking for a sugar cookie recipe that is worth repeatinf and i ha e to say ill definitely be going Back to this one. Two questions, one do they need to be refrigerated afterwards because the frosting uses cream cheese? Two, i added food colouring to the icing but found their were white specks in the frosting from the cream cheese. Have you had this problem and do you know how i could fix
it? I tried blending it more but found the specks were still there. Thanks!

  12. This is a fantastic recipe! important to note for novice bakers: butter and eggs should be room temp (just leave them on the counter for a couple hours). cream butter & Sugar first (until fluffy), then add eggs, then extracts. mix the baking powder into the flour before slowly adding to the wet ingredients.
