Holiday beauty...

Today I'm guest posting over at Newlyweds on a Budget
{be sure to check out Kari's blog, there are tons of fun holiday tutorials}
I was asked to write on the topic of holiday beauty, here is the post!

Thanks for having me Kari.

The holiday season is a time for decking your halls, sipping on a cup of hot cocoa,
an excuse to lick as many candy canes as your heart desires, blasting Baby It's Cold Outside on your ipod
while taking a steamy hot shower, lighting Christmas candles throughout your home, baking,
eating, more eating, did I mention eating and of course, a time for gathering with friends and family.

Because we do so much of the gathering with friends and family thing during the holidays, it is
important {for me at least} to look your best.
I have always been a big believer that how you present yourself {in the way you dress and groom}
is a reflection of who you are.
Today I'm going to be discussing holiday grooming, or for us ladies... holiday beauty.

Here are some of my beauty tips and fun, new ideas to help you look fresh and well put together
{in the make-up department}
for all the many up-and-coming holiday gatherings that are marked on all of your calendars.

Let's get started!

I am in love with Christmas Cranberries this season, I have them in bowels on my counter tops, hanging
on my walls in wreath shapes, accents around my candles and also cranberry inspiration adding fabulous color to my lips and nails.
I love the purple tone that is mixed in with the reds in cranberries, to achieve the Christmas Cranberry inspired lip {pictured below}
I headed to the MAC Counter and bought a purple lipliner with a bright red lipstick

I first lined my entire lip with the liner {darker on the edges and lighter as I made my way to the center of my lip}
next, I used a small brush to fill in my entire lip with the red lipstick {easy on the edges, you still want to keep the purple tone}.
It's super easy, and remember, practice makes perfect :)

Before you start on the lips, here is a step-by-step process of how I achieved my whole holiday
make-up look

Step One:
I used a liquid foundation and applied it with a brush, not my hands,
a brush will give you a more flawless airbrushed look
{Studio Fix Foundation, Duo Fiber Face Brush #187, both by MAC}

Step Two:
Applied bronzer, the sun tans have faded so use bronzer to give some color back to your complexion
{Warmth by Bare Essentials}

Step Three:
I brushed concealer under my eyes to brighten them
{any brand works, I use the cheap stuff}

Step Four:
I applied a Rosy pink blush
{Breezy by MAC}

Step Five:
I used gold and smokey eye shades for an evening feel
{Honesty, WoodWinked, Orb&ShowStopper, all by MAC}

Step Six:
A gel liner for emphasis on the eye
{Black Track by MAC}

Step Seven:
Topped my eyes off with a set of false lashes for a more dramatic look
{if you have dark lashes/dark hair, use a dark glue, it blends better}

Step Eight:
Apply your cranberry lips
{Lipstick: RubyWoo, Liner: Currant, Brush}
I tied my nails in with my cranberry lips and used, Got The Blues For Red by O.P.I.

I hope this post helped inspire your holiday beauty
Have so much fun enjoying all of the holiday festivities, it really is the most wonderful time of the year!
